About 17,610 Student Teachers Graduates From National Teachers Institute, NTI.
No fewer than 17,610 students were presented for graduation during the 4th Convocation ceremony of the National Teachers’ Institute (NTI), Kaduna, held recently.
According to the Director-General of the institute, Aminu Ladan Sharehu, the student teachers have completed various academic and professional programmes for the 2014 academic session.
Sharehu said that a total of 9,455 students graduated with Postgraduate Diploma in Education, while over 8,000 graduated with the Nigerian Certificate in Education (NCE) programme.
He noted that the institute had concluded plans to expand the scope of its academic activities with the introduction of micro-teaching laboratories in the six geo-political zones of the federation to enhance the institute’s teacher trainee programmes.
The NTI director enumerated inadequate fund and poor public perception of the open and distance education as some of the major challenges confronting the institute.
Highlights of the event was the conferment of Honourary Fellowship and Merit Awards of the institute, tagged ‘FNTI’ on some eminent Nigerians including Professor Emeritus Thomas Kolawole Adeyanju, Dr. Sylvester Momoh Onoja and Alhaji Garba Muhammed Noma.
