Not fewer than eighty six corps members are expected to benefit from the designed programmes of the Centre for Critical thinking teaching and learning (CCTTL) in the Nigerian
The corps members who were posted to the academy after their NYSC orientation camp exercise were enrolled at the CCTTL for a course on basic teaching skills.
The aim for this training is to give them a background on how to go about while carrying out their duties.
Addressing the corps members, the immediate past commandant Nigerian Defence Academy, Major General MI Idris charge them on the need to concentrate on the various teachings that the centre will give to them.
In addition the commandant urged them to ensure that at the end of their training, they should be able to make a difference in the discharge of their work.
He reminded them on the need to work hard as they will be assessed by the centre at the end of the course to determine those who are suitable to be issued with certificates and those who would be retained by the academy.
The head of the centre doc Hafsat D Muhammed in an interview said the center would enhance and integrate critical thinking, teaching and learning as an instructional strategy in the teaching process at the Nigerian defence academy.
Resource persons from local and international delivered lectures on various topics relating to basic teaching skills. The lectures covered areas like teaching, learning, and assessment, learning styles, inclusive learning equality and diversity, factors contributing to learning, planning learning tips for teaching and micro teach theory and practical.
At the end of each lecture the corps members are fully accessed to ascertain their level of understanding and assimilation.
