The Modibbo Adama University of Technology, (MAUTECH), Yola recorded a fourty percent drop in admission rate as the institution admitted only 2,500 students for the 2019/2020 academic session.
This was disclosed by the Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof. Abdullahi Tukur, on the sidelines of a public hearing on conversion of the school to conventional university on Thursday in Abuja.
He said that before the school was stopped from admitting students into the School of Management and Information in 2016, it had admitted 7,000 students and 3,000 in 2017.
Prof. Tukur said that the academic services provided by the school had not reduced in anyway, however stated that the funds to run the school was no longer available.
The VC said there was the urgent need to convert the university to conventional one to give the institution more room to admit more students.
