Controversy As MAUTECH Appoints New VC
The Moddibo Adama University of Technology MAUTECH, Yola is awash with controversy following the appointment of Professor Kyari Mohammed as the new Vice-Chancellor of the institution.
The controversy arose when it was alleged that the Chairman of the Governing Council MAUTECH, Bullama Manu announced the new VC after the criteria for selection which states that the new vice chancellor must be a specialist in a major department in the school was breached.
Information emanating from the institution has it that the new VC doesn’t have the required science knowledge in order to lead the technology university.
Two of the major contestants for the position Professor Remilekun Odekunle and Professor Abdu Sajo, were said not to be satisfied with Kyari’s appointment.
Professor Sajou, who came third on the score sheet said his grouse was about the failure of the panel to comply with due process in selecting who occupies the office.
However, Professor Kyari has remained silent as the controversy raged on.
