The Registrar of the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, has stated that the exam body registered a record 1,736,571 candidates for 2017 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
According to Oloyede, who made this known on Tuesday while briefing newsmen on the preparations for the conduct of the examination scheduled to commence this Saturday, said the number of registered candidates for the 2017 UTME rose by 464,287 compared with the 2016 figure of 1,272,284 candidates.

Others are Delta state with 81,108; Anambra with 77,253; Kaduna, 72,104; Kano, 70,276; Kogi, 70,150 and Benue state in tenth position with 68,916 registered candidates.

He said that 321 visually impaired candidates registered for the examination and that adequate arrangements had been provided to ensure their effective participation in the examination.
Oloyede assured candidates that necessary machinery has been put in place to ensure a hitch free CBT examination that would last for a week.
The JAMB boss however warned candidates to desist from seeking reposting from exam centre assigned to them to another as there would be no rescheduling of examination.
