• The Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, Prof. Dibu Ojerinde, has predicted that the Post-UTME screening exercise organized by higher institutions in Nigeria with soon stop following the introduction of the Computer-Based Test (CBT).

Ojerinde said the reason for this is that the Computer Based mode of UTME had helped to completely eradicate examination malpractice.

Many universities and polytechnics introduced post-JAMB tests for applicants before they are offered admission, irrespective of whether they passed the JAMB examination, which has attracted its fair share of criticism as it was described as a means of extorting money from applicants.

Prof. Ojerinde said that the screening tests will die naturally as there is no way parents or candidates will be able to cheat during the UTME.

According to the registrar, the CBT system is a way of preparing candidates ahead of the challenge in universities where they would be extensively drilled.
