    The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, JAMB, has disclosed that the registration statistics for this year’s Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME, saw Imo, Osun and Oyo states emerging the top three states with the highest number of applications with the figures, 102,727, 83,060 and 81,006, respectively.

    According to the JAMB Registrar, Prof. Dibu Ojerinde, who spoke ahead of the exam on Friday in Abuja, a total number of 1,589,175 candidates applied for the 2016 UTME.

    Meanwhile, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Zamfara and Yobe states have the lowest number of candidates enrolment with the figures, 5,069, 7,254 and 12,079, respectively.

    The JAMB boss also disclosed that about 343 prison inmates registered for this year’s 2016 scheduled to take place this Saturday.

    He also stated that the 201 visually impaired candidates who registered for the examination are expected to take the examination at designated centres in all state capitals and the FCT while the registered prison inmates will also have access to computers at both the Kaduna and Ikoyi prisons.

    Ojerinde said the examination would be conducted using the Braillenote Apex Computers for the visually impaired candidates in order to give them the opportunity to pursue their dreams academically.
