• The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) Zonal Coordinator in Benue State, Mr. Samuel Umoru, has revealed that the Unified Tertiary and Matriculation Examinations (UTME) candidates, who were arrested during a protest, might not sit the forthcoming examination, unless the police release them.

It will be recalled that some UTME candidates on Monday, protested against their inability to re-print their examination slips in Markudi, where about 50 of them were arrested by the police.

The coordinated stated that the action of the aggrieved candidates was unnecessary because JAMB could not deliberately cause them untold hardship by withholding their slips.

Umoru said the police were still investigating the matter, adding that the candidates could not be released until their interrogation was concluded.
