The French attaché for Cooperation in Education and Deputy to Head of Service Nigeria, Daniel Rignault, who made this known on Monday, said that there was the need to ensure that students learnt and spoke French effectively.
Rignault had led a delegation from the embassy and the Centre for French Teaching and Development, Enugu to visit the school.
Rignault pledged to support the department in the provision of resources and logistics to attain its goals.
The Head of Department, Mass Communication, Mr. Chukwudi Anyianuka, who received the team, explained that the fresh move by the embassy would further stimulate the students’ interest in learning the language.
He noted that French was a very important international language, particularly for the member-nations of the Economic Community of West Africa States as well as a language that is indispensable in international news reporting.
