Vice-Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Rosemund Green-Osahogulu, while decorating the students remarked that it was a way of rewarding outstanding performances by students and encouraging others to work hard and to instill the spirit of competitiveness amongst the fresh students.
She reminded the fresh students that their primary purpose was to study, obtain their degrees and make meaningful contributions to national development and stated that they cannot achieve this if they frittered away their time on unproductive ventures and called on them to resist every distraction from being a true student of IAUE.
The VC advised them against provocative dressing, sexual promiscuity, stealing or robbery as this would attract expulsion and imprisonment when handed over to the law enforcement agents emphasizing that they were not to quarrel, fight, kill or engage in test or examination malpractice as this would lead to their being completely rusticated.
Prof. Osahogulu also stressed that the university management would not hesitate to expel students who failed to cope with the high academic and moral standards for which the institution is noted for and encouraged them to reflect on the efforts of the parents and guidance and how much pleasure that they had denied themselves just to ensure that they are educated.
The awardees received a laptop computer each and were decorated at the matriculation ceremony which took place on Wednesday March 4, 2015 at the university auditorium.
