Speaking during the event, the Abia State Governor, Theodore Orji urged the school management to ensure that bad behaviours in other institutions do not spread to the institute.
He advised the freshers to follow their dreams and shun vices that could destroy their future.
In his reaction, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Juliet Elu, told the matriculating students that the university does not tolerate examination malpractice and other vices that promote cheating and reward for work not done.
The Chancellor/Proprietor of GUU, Chief Gergory Ibe, said he established the university because of his passion to see more Nigerians get educated.
