This was disclosed by the Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. C. C. Asiabaka, who said the institute will address the gap in manpower development and tackle man-made environmental nuisances that pose threat to the people.
He said that the institute will provide a broad-based research, professional training and competencies in Environmental Health and Justice that reflects the emphasis on national policies and needs.
The VC added that Professor A. N. Amadi has been appointed as the first director of the institute.
