The Federal University of Technology, Minna (FUTMINNA) will, during their 34th Founders’ Day and 26th Convocation Ceremony scheduled for Wednesday, February 1, 2017, honour three eminent Nigerians.
They are HRH, Alh. (Dr.) Yahaya Abubakar, the Etsu Nupe; HRH Alhaji Abubakar Shehu-Abubakar, Modibbo Abubakar III, Emir of Gombe; and Professor Akin Mabogunje, a renowned Professor of Planning.
The Vice-Chancellor of FUTMinna, Prof. Musbau Akanji, made the disclosure when he led other Principal Officers of the University to the Palace of Etsu Nupe and Chairman, Niger State Council of Traditional Rulers, to conveyed the University Senate’s decision to honour the Royal father.
He said, “We have come this morning to inform you that the University Senate, at its Special (414th) meeting held on Monday, January 9, 2017 approved the recommendation of the Honorary Degree Committee that you be awarded an Honorary Doctorate Degree of Technology (Honoris causa) during the 26th Convocation Ceremony of the University.”
Prof. Akanji also use the opportunity to condole with the Royal father over the death of the former Governor of Niger State, late Engr. Abdulkadir Kure and prayed for the repose of his soul.
Responding, HRH accepted the honour from the University and prayed for continued peace and progress in the entire system. He thanked the Vice-Chancellor, the Principal Officers and his entourage for the visit.
