• The Management of the Federal University of Technology Akure has named the institutions library after its former Vice Chancellor, Professor Albert Adeoye Ilemobade, who died recently.

    The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Adebiyi Daramola made this known during a commendation Service held in honour of Ilemobade at the New Auditorium of FUTA on Monday July 27.

    Daramola said the former Vice Chancellor deserved the honour because of his many contributions to the Development of FUTA and the education sector in Nigeria.

    Daramola said; “It is therefore, my delight to announce that in recognition of Baba’s scholarly contributions to the growth and sustainability of the development of the Federal University of Technology, Akure, the Governing Council of the University has granted approval to immortalize Baba Ilemobade by naming the University Library after him. Henceforth, the University Library shall be known and called “Prof. Albert Adeoye Ilemobade Library”.

    Prof. Daramola said the former Vice Chancellor, who was killed by two domestic aides on June 21, made indelible marks on humanity through his professional calling and service to community.

    He said the don lived an exemplary life that was completely filled with service to God and humanity and was prolific in research, productive in scholarship and reputable in intellectualism.

    The Vice-Chancellor added that during the late Ilemobade’s tenure as Vice-Chancellor, he made tremendous contributions to the pioneering development of the University, committing himself to the development of the infrastructural projects necessary for the promotion of academic excellence in the University.
