Youths across the world have been advised to desist from the use and dependence on drugs to boost performance at any level.
Speaking at a parliamentary debate on Youth and Substance abuse at the Federal
Reacting to the debate motion for the provision of smart drugs for students on demand by University Health Centres, Prof. Ola expressed shock at the dependence of some youths on what they referred to as boosters.
She stressed that though there could be immediate and temporary satisfaction, the end product was self destruction.
Ola called on students not to abuse their brains by staying passive and dependent, charging them to be curious, adventurous, thoughtful and out spoken.
The don encouraged them to be great listeners and researchers in order to develop the language and carriage to address emerging issues, particularly those affecting young people, the nation and the world at large.
The debate was characterized by arguments from parliamentarians which left the opposition of the motion highlighting over dose, over dependence, excessive drug circulation and abuse as some of the effects of the use of smart drugs.
