Federal Unversity of Tech Akure Graduates 85 First Class Students.
No fewer than 2,578 students will be graduated the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) at the 28th Convocation ceremony which will hold on Saturday, 18th March, 2017.
In his pre-convocation media conferemce, the Chairman of the FUTA Ceremonial Committee, Prof Olaniyi Okunlola, said that eighty-five students bagged First Class degrees in their various courses of study.
In a further breakdown of the results, Okunlola said 1,044 of the graduands made Second Class (upper) while 1,274 made Second Class (lower). Also 453 made third class, with the rest 33 graduating with Pass.
Also, he said that a total number of 105 will bag the university’s Ph.D Degree, 731 will bag Master’s Degree and 40 will bag the Post Graduate Diploma Certificate of the university.
Okunlola disclosed that the institution has collaborated with the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs and the Presidential Amnesty Programme to train no fewer than 78 ex-militants in different aspects of skill acquisition and entrepreneurship training.
Okunlola disclosed that 50 of the ex- Niger Delta militants, who were trained in welding and fabrication, had graduated while 28 others would soon resume for training in Agriculture and Entrepreneurship.
He said the ex- militants were trained by the Centre for Entrepreneurship Studies of the university and Department of Metallurgical Studies respectively.
