The Vice Chancellor of the Federal
Prof. Farouk gave this advice at the orientation programme of the pioneer students of Faculty of Humanities, Management and Social Science held at the University auditorium.
The Vice Chancellor who was represented at the occasion by the Registrar, Dr. Abubakar Aliyu Bafeto said students are important stakeholders in any University and therefore it is necessary to prepare them for the task of nation building as leaders of tomorrow.
The VC while congratulating the students for their successful admission into the University as pioneer students urged them to make the best use of the opportunity and to be worthy in character and learning.
Earlier in his welcome address, the Dean, Faculty of Humanities, management and Social Sciences Prof. Saleh Abdu expressed satisfaction with the quality of students admitted and advised them to attend lectures regularly for them to be models of University graduates.
He said the Faculty will introduce a forum for students to demonstrate their talents in order to produce globally competitive graduates.
Two papers were presented at the orientation programme by the Registrar, Dr. Abubakar Aliyu Bafeto and the Deputy Dean Dr. S.I Dugguh.
In his paper at the occassion titled “Politics and Nigerian Students” the Registrar, Dr. Abubakar Aliyu Bafeto said students have an important role to play in entrenching democracy as an ideal system of Government.
As a driving force for innovations, students, he said, must be invested so that they can pilot the political and economic well being of the people successfully.
He said, society expects a lot from them as leaders of tomorrow as such they must be morally upright so that they can lead the nation where individual rights will be respected.
