The Management of the Federal
This was disclosed by the Rector of the Institution, Dr. Taiwo Akande during a meeting with members of staff of the Institution held on Tuesday, 17th February, 2015.
Dr Akande who lamented the rate at which misinformation and falsifications were being peddled by the erstwhile unions’ leaders of the Polytechnic, said arrangements have been concluded to pay all outstanding dues owed the cooperatives arising from the implementation of the second phase of CONTISS 15.
She added that the Institution’s Governing Council, acting within the powers conferred on it, took the decision to suspend all unions’ activities on campus in good faith, so that peace could return to the Polytechnic, after an unsettled academic calendar owing to perennial strikes by the unions.
While assuring staff to go back to work not minding the threats by the suspended unions’ leaders, the Rector again appealed to the teaching staff to have the love of the students at heart, more-so that the Polytechnic was yet to complete the 2013/2014 academic session due to series of industrial unrest in the Polytechnic over the last three years.
Responding to the Rector’s briefing, the Polytechnic Librarian, Mr Nurudeen Alokun, said the Rector, having approved that the Conflict Resolution Committee should swing into action on the impasse between the management and the erstwhile union leaders, said the Committee was to commence further reconciliation efforts shortly from next Monday, adding that all the grievances of staff would be looked into and judiciously addressed.
At the gathering, some Principal Officers and staff spoke on the need for all Stakeholders to come to the round table for dialogue, while they also appealed to staff on the need for them to obey first the decision of the Council while other grey areas are being looked into.
