• The Provost of the Federal College of Education (Technical), Asaba, Dr Ignatius Ezoem, has criticized the quality of teachers being produced in the country and stressed the need for the upgrade of Nigeria’s education standard.

    Ezoem who was speaking with newsmen in his office, said that the teaching profession has improved quantitatively but not in quality.

    Blaming the problem on the declining reading culture of students, he said students have resorted to “sorting” rather than reading to pass their exams.

    He said the institution is curbing the menace of sorting by organizing workshops to set a new paradigm for teachers.
