Applications are invited from suitable, qualified candidates for admission into the Federal College of Education (FCE), Okene to read Professional Diploma in Education P.D.E).
The PDE is design and approved by Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (T.R.C.N) for teachers and prospective teachers without the minimum teaching qualification (Nigeria Certificate in Education), to attain Professional teaching qualification.
The PDE is equivalent to the postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) being run by some Nigeria Universities and qualifies the graduates to read Masters in Education in the University.
DURATION OF COURSES
The duration of the PDE programme is 6 months, and will run between July & December, 2015.
QUALIFICATION FOR ADMISSION
The qualifications for admission are:
i. Higher National Diploma (HND)
ii. Degree Bachelors, Masters and Doctorate.
In other words all those with the above qualifications who are teaching in Colleges of Education, Colleges of Agriculture, Law Schools, Universities, and Ministry/Police Academies etc are eligible for enrolment. Prospective teachers who have the above qualification are also eligible. Ultimately, only those with professional teaching
qualifications recognized by TRCN will be eligible for employment as teachers at all levels of education in Nigeria.
AREA OF SPECIALIZATION
The following are the areas of specialization in the PDE programme. Each candidate is expected to choose one of them:
i Early childhood Education vi Nomadic Education
ii Primary Education vii Islamic Education/C.R.S. Education
iii Secondary Education viii Adult and Non-Formal Education
iv Nursing Education ix Science Education
v Technical Education x University Education
PROCEDURE FOR OBTAINING APPLICATION FORMS
Application Forms are available on the College Portal.(www.fce-okene.edu.ng) online with payment of five thousand naira (N5,000.00) only. While submission of the forms are made at the Centre for Continuing Education Office.
CLOSING DATE
Completed application forms must be returned to the Centre for Continuing Education not later than June 15th, 2015.
