ESUT Loses NUC Accreditation Over Lecturers Sack.
The National Universities Commission (NUC) has withdrawn the accreditation of Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT), Agbani indefinitely over the sack of lecturers from the institution.
It would be recalled that the ESUT management sacked about 153 lecturers from the institution November last year, after using them to acquire accreditation for some of its programmes.
The NUC Director of Information and Public Relations, Mallam Ibrahim Yakassai, confirmed the withdrawal of the accreditation of faculties / departments earlier given to ESUT in a press statement on Tuesday.
He said that the Executive Secretary of NUC, Prof. Julius Okojie, frowned at a situation where some universities hires lecturers just for accreditation purposes and sacks them afterwards.
Yakassai acknowledged that the Commission received several petitions from the dismissed lectures of ESUT which prompted the action from the accreditation body.
