The effort of Ekiti State University to achieve full accreditation status for its College of Medicine is becoming a reality as an accreditation team from the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) made a visit to the institution.
The eight (8) man delegation drawn from various Universities across the country was led by a Professor of Medicine, Professor N. Y. Darkum of University of Jos. The team was received by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Patrick Oladipo Aina who led other Principal Officers of the University to welcome them to Ekiti State University.
At the briefing held in the Council Chamber of the University, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Patrick Oladipo Aina expressed optimism that the team will find EKSU College of medicine ready for accreditation.
Professor Aina promised that no stone would be left un-turned to actualize the accreditation of the College of Medicine.
The Vice-Chancellor explained that substantial investment had been made towards the construction of a multi-million naira Medical Library that has been adjudged one of the best in West Africa.
Prof. Aina said that top Academic staff had recruited couple with sprawling architectural structures to host Biochemistry, Pharmacology and Physiology departments as well as an Ultra-Modern Medical Students hostel.

After about six hours of moving around the Complex of the EKSU College of Medicine, meeting staff and students, visiting laboratories, assessing curriculum and inspecting infrastructural facilities including hostels the leader of the team, Prof. N. Y. Dakum and his Colleagues expressed satisfaction with the effort of the University to put in place a College of Medicine that would be model to other Universities.
The MDCN team arrived the state on the 14th January, 2015 and had three days of effective evaluation.
