The Ondo state government has increased the number of teachers in primary schools by employing about 900 new teachers.
The Commissioner for Information in the state, Kayode Akinmade, who made the disclosure, said that the 900 new teachers are National Certificate in Education (NCE) holders who were redeployed from the local government service into the state Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB).
He reported that a three-day refresher course for the teachers is holding in four zones in the state with a centre each in Ondo, Akure, Okitipupa and Ikare.
Addressing the teachers at the flag off ceremony of the course in Akure, the state Governor, Dr Olusegun Mimiko, charged them to be diligent in the discharge of their duties and contribute their quota to the improvement of standard of education in the state.
He said the deployment is an opportunity for them to bring to bear their wealth of experience to improve the state of Education.
