• The National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) has commenced a five-day training workshop on cyber security for 100 ICT personnel drawn from polytechnics across the country .

    The training is designed to equip the participants with operational techniques to detect and block cyber criminals.

    The NBTE Executive Secretary, Dr Mas’ud Kazaure, who declared open the training workshop in Kaduna, noted that cyber security issues, attacks and warfare were becoming serious threats to information systems of various institutions in the country.

    He said that the goal of the training was to enable the participants acquire advanced techniques to secure their systems and networks from hackers.

     

    Kazaure said that the NBTE remained committed to creating a vibrant community of exceptional workforce, entrepreneurs and students equipped with the basic skills needed to carry out their tasks.

    One of the participants, Mr Mohammed Wajiro, the ICT Coordinator of Ramat Polytechnic, Maiduguri, appreciated the training, saying it would protect vital information in their respective institutions.

     

    Also, Mr Innocent Onwuegbuzie, the Web Master, Federal Polytechnic, Ado Ekiti said the training would equip them with relevant knowledge to be a step ahead of hackers.

    The participants included network engineers, system administrators, data centre managers, network administrators and system analysts from different polytechnics across the country. (NAN)
