• Governor Okorocha of Imo state to cancel scholarships of indecently dressed students

Gov. Rochas Okorocha of Imo on Friday said he would withdraw the scholarship from any student of Imo origin in tertiary institutions reported by the school authority to be indecently dressed.

The governor gave the warning in Owerri while addressing members of the newly appointed Government Liaison Officers.

He said that he had already requested school authorities in different government-owned higher institutions to submit names of Imo students found to have dressed provocatively to lectures to his office.

“I have mandated the school authorities to bring the name of any female student found to have exposed the sensitive parts of her body for immediate cancellation of her name as a beneficiary of the scholarship award.

“The same goes to the young boys found exposing part of their inner wear in the name of sagging.

“The school is for academic work and those that found themselves there must know how to dress properly,” he said.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Okorocha, in the beginning of the year, started the implementation of a scholarship award promised to students of Imo origin in tertiary institutions.

By the scholarship, students of the state-owned university (IMSU) are to receive N100, 000 each academic session while those of the polytechnic and colleges of education are to get N65,000 for their academic pursuit.

The governor also reaffirmed the determination of his administration to introduce an identification card for all Imo citizens to be known as Imo Social Security Identity Card.

He said the ID card would help in the proposed data collection of all citizens in the state and ensure adequate security of lives and property.

Okorocha also assured the citizens that he would finish 80 per cent of all the projects embarked upon by his administration before December this year

The governor said   that 200km of roads would be tarred within two weeks.

He urged Imo citizens to be patient and to cooperate with his ‘rescue mission agenda’ as he would ensure they are not denied dividends of democracy.
