Speaking at the event, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Charles Ayo explained the vision and the uniqueness of the University.
He noted that the University is dedicated to becoming a leading world-class university, committed to raising a new generation of leaders in all fields of human endevour.
The VC added that a high level of spirituality is expected of them, noting that it is the anchor point of the seven core values of the University.
In his remarks, the Dean, School of Postgraduate Studies, Prof. Shalom Chinedu, enjoined them to see their admission beyond acquisition of degree and diploma but as an enlistment into an army of reformers, world changers and solution providers.
Prof. Chinedu, who spoke on the philosophy and objectives of postgraduate training at the University, noted that the Mission of the School of Postgraduate Studies is to produce high quality postgraduates by engaging best practices in programme, research and services, deploying life-applicable, life-promoting as well as cutting-edge techniques in its services and delivery.
He assured the students that they are in a good place where they will have access to quality education with respect for time in line with contemporary realities.
A total of 573 students were admitted to the School. The breakdown showed that 83 students were admitted for PGD programme, 30 for MBA, 329 Maters, 31 MPhil/PhD and 96 for PhD.
