Cross River State College Of Education Provost Warns Exam Cheats Of Strict Penalties
Provost of the Cross River State College of Education (COE), Akamkpa, Dr. James Ejue has warned against the connivance of staff with students to perpetrate academic fraud even as he warned that his administration has no room for cultism and other anti-social behaviours that could bring the image of the school to disrepute.
Ejue charged the institution Deans of faculties and Heads of Departments to rise up against the twin evils of extortion of monetary and other favours from students and compromise of academic standards, stressing that silence could be interpreted as acquiescence which could lead to vicarious liability or collateral damage.
He said that, as a way to strengthen his resolve to improve on the college operations with best global practices, the college now host a portal on the internet where students can go to the ICT for bio-data capturing. He noted that the arrangement would make it difficult for a staff, who is dubious to extort money from any student under the guise or pretense of trying to help the student check his result or academic progress.
The provost maintained that the college could now comfortably boast of ultra- modern infrastructure such as the ICT Centre which has a 950 capacity auditorium, a 600 capacity lecture theatre science laboratory, and a 2000 capacity library complex.
The institution helmsman warned that henceforth, idlers who deviate or go contrary against the norms and values of the institution would be shown the way out of the campus, stressing that those who heed and abide by the school rules and regulations would have to re-gather again in three years time to come for their convocation ceremony.
He said the institution had the potential to produce 21st Century teachers with the needed mental capacity ,right values ,attitude to work and life generally teachers with entrepreneurial and trade skills to impart to their students.
