BUK Pro-Chancellor Appointed Chief of Staff to President Buhari.
The management of Bayero University Kano (BUK) has congratulated the newly appointed Chief of Staff to the President, Professor Ibrahim Agboola Gambari on his appointment.
Until his latest appointment, Prof. Gambari was the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of 13th Governing Council of the university.
The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, who made the announcement at the commencement of the virtual FEC meeting on Wednesday, said that President Muhammadu Buhari appointed Gambari as a result of his stellar career as an international civil servant.
Prof. Gambari was Nigeria’s former permanent representative to the United Nations, Ibrahim Gambari. He is a Nigerian scholar and diplomat and was also Minister for External Affairs between 1984 and 1985.
He has had an illustrious career, spanning academia, government and international diplomacy, culminating with his appointment as the first United Nations Under-Secretary-General and Special Adviser to the Secretary-General on Africa (1999-2005).
In that capacity, he worked closely with heads of government, key policymakers as well as institutions in the continent to develop the New Partnership for Africa’s Development (NEPAD).
