BSUM Graduates 10,248 Students During 2017 Convocation.
No fewer than 10,248 students received their first degree certificates during the Benue State University, Makurdi (BSUM) 16th and 17th combined Convocation ceremony held on Saturday, 25th March, 2017.
Speaking at the event, the Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof. Msugh Kembe, said that seven of the graduating students bagged First Class degrees.
In the postgraduate category, Kembe said that 469 students obtained Postgraduate Diplomas; 1,522 (Masters Degrees), while 149 graduating students, including the wife of the state Governor, Mrs. Eunice Erdoo Ortom bagged PhD.

Prof. Kembe identified inadequate funding as the bane of the development of the university and appealed to all stakeholders in the university’s project on the need for increased and sustained funding in the quest for growth and development.
High-point of the occasion was the conferment of Honorary Doctorate Degrees of Letters (Honoris Causa) on the Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mr. Godwin Ifeanyi Emefiele; former Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Defence, Chief Mike Okibe Onoja; the Shehu of Borno Emirate, Alhaji Abubakar Ibn Umar Garbai Al-Amin El-Kanemi and the late Bishop of Makurdi Diocese, Dr. Athanasius Atule Usuh.
