The Police have arrested a student of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Ibrahim Kabir, who specialises in snatching cars, motorcycles, and women handbags in Kaduna State.
Kabir, a 200-Level Accountancy undergraduate, was arrested with his 15-man gang of suspected armed robbers.
The suspect who confessed to the crime, explained how he got himself involved in the crime and begged for forgiveness.
He narrated how they sell the stolen vehicles at give-away prices in Niger Republic.
The Kaduna State Commissioner of Police, Umar Shehu, who confirmed the arrest, said the robbery suspects were arrested in Zaria, Kafanchan and the state capital by operatives of the Special Intelligence Bureau of the command while on a stop and search operation following a tip-off by members of the public.
He said that during the operation, a total of eight assorted vehicles, including a Prado jeep and 14 motorcycles were also recovered from the suspected robbers.
The commissioner added that efforts are being made to recover the other stolen vehicles.
