The Abia State Polytechnic (Abia Poly), Aba admitted about 5,250 new students from over 10,000 candidates who applied for admission into the institution for the 2014/2015 academic session.
This was stated at the matriculation ceremony of the institution by the Rector, Elder Allwell Onukaogu.
The Rector congratulated the freshers and urged them to take their studies serious in order to achieve their aim of being in the institution.
He warned them against engaging in cultism, drug abuse and prostitution, stressing that the vices could never help them in their academic pursuits.
The event saw a large turnout of students, parents and guardians with some of the freshers describing the ceremony as a milestone in their lives.
