The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has commended the successful conduct of its May/June 2016 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) which will be concluded in few days.

According to the Public Affairs Officer (PAO) of WAEC, Mr. Damianus Ojijeogu, who made this disclosure on Monday in Lagos, the examination has been mostly hitch free.

It would be recalled that the May / June West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) started in February this year and will end on May 13th.

Speaking further, Mr. Ojijeogu stated that there has been no negative report since the examination started, especially in states with security concerns.

He said the only hitch recorded during the exam was the nationwide fuel scarcity which almost affected logistics and movement of staff and materials to their various examination centres.

Ojijeogu said that marking of the scripts would begin in June to enhance early release of results.

He expressed the council’s appreciation to the supervisors and the examiners for their efforts and commitment toward the conduct of the examination.

The WAEC official, however noted that a lot still needed to be done in the aspect of discipline. He assured of the council’s commitment to quality service delivery. (NAN)
