• UNIZIK Gets New SUG leaders.

    The management of Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka has inaugurated the newly elected Students’ Union Government (SUG) officials for the 2017/2018 academic session.

    Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the SUG officials, the Vice-Chancellor of UNIZIK, Prof. Joseph Ahaneku, congratulated them on their victory at the polls.

    He urged them to serve and uphold the dignity of the University which is currently standing tall in all ramifications.

    The Vice Chancellor disclosed that the University management has a lot in stock for the students in a bid to making their sojourn in the University conducive and interesting.

    He further announced that 72 indigent students of the University have been enlisted for work aid payments.

    According to him, the University management is highly sensitive to the plight of most students and has maintained work aid as a form of assistance to the indigent ones.

    Speaking on behalf of the inaugurated members, the newly elected president, Ikenna Igwebuike from the department of Microbiology, promised to uphold the trust and faith the students have entrusted on him.

    He asserted that his administration will focus on fair and accessible government, encourage discipline as well as improving on the healthcare and the transportation system on campus.

    Earlier in his valedictory speech, the immediate past president, Nwabueze Nwambu extolled the Vice Chancellor for his fatherly support throughout his tenure while wishing the new president a successful tenure.

    High point of the occasion was the swearing-in of members of the union by the new Chief Judge of the Judiciary arm , Justice Kingsley Agbaenyi.
