• The Vice Chancellor of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso, Prof. Adeniyi Gbadegesin has urged members of the National Association of Women in Academics (NAWACS) to take greater interest in the growth of female students in the nation’s tertiary institutions.

Speaking in his office during a courtesy visit by members of the LAUTECH branch of the Association he also charged them to develop a gender policy that will ensure greater stake for their members in the distribution of positions.

Gbadegesin who enjoined members of NAWACS to create a forum through which they will counsel female students on how to get their priorities right challenged them to make themselves available to their female students as mothers, so that they could be free to relate with them.

He applauded members of NAWACS, saying they have given the University a good name in terms of scholarship and academic excellency in their chosen fields.

The president of NAWACS, LAUTECH branch, Prof. (Mrs). Tunde Akintunde thanked the Vice Chancellor for providing members of her association with the enabling environment to flourish.

She promised on behalf of other members of NAWACS to brace up to the challenges posed by the Vice-Chancellor, saying more would be done in the area of bringing up the female students in the right direction.
