• Kogi State Poly Closed Indefinitely.

The management of Kogi State Polytechnic (KSP), Lokoja has announced the indefinite suspension of academic activities and the closure of the institution following student’s protest.

In a statement released by the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the polytechnic, Mr. Luke Yakubu, the move was to forestall further breakdown of law and order in the institution.

It will be recalled that students of the polytechnic took to the streets yesterday to protest the alleged killing of a female student by a commercial motor cyclist.

The students blocked the Okene-Abuja road, impeding traffic flow and burnt properties worth millions of naira.

It was reported that what led to the incident happened in the town in Adankolo on Monday morning when the said female student had a misunderstanding with the commercial motor cycle (okada) rider over fares.

The okada rider was said to have brought out his knife and stabbed the hapless student on the stomach which later led to her death on Tuesday.

The news sent the students into hysteria and they went on rampage afterwards.

It took the combined efforts of law enforcement agents to disperse the protesting students and drive them back to campus.
