• The industrial action embarked upon by lecturers of Imo State University, is set to continue as the state government fails to settle issues of unpaid salaries.

The position of the lecturers was made known by the Media Director, Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), IMSU Chapter, Prof. Valene Obinna, who said that the strike action is to protest the non payment of March and April salaries of its members.

He stated that the strike was not political and had nothing to do with the just concluded governorship elections.

Obinna said the union has been agitating for other unresolved issues.

In his reaction, the IMSU Public Relations Officer, Mr Raphael Njokuobi, who wants the lecturers to suspend the strike, said the issue of unpaid salaries was not peculiar to the state.
