The protest which began peacefully inside the university campus later deteriorated into blocking the ever-busy  East-West road from the Warri axis with bonfire, planks, used tyres, thereby causing a huge traffic jam.

Speaking with reporters, the FUPRE SUG vice president, Mr Valentine Ekanem, stated that the management increased the fees for returning students from N26,400 to N55,000, while the new students are to pay fees ranging from N46,000 to N90,000.
