• The Minister of Education, Mal. Ibrahim Shekarau recently paid a working visit to the Federal University, Kashere in Gombe State as part of his impact assessment of Projects and activities of all Federal Institutions in the country.

    Speaking during the visit, Malam Shekarau said that the transformation agenda in the education sector was aimed at increasing access and improving quality.

    He said the Federal Ministry of Education is determined to improve quality through the training of teaching staff and the provision of instructional materials so as to improve the quality of delivery of teaching in higher institutions.

    Shekarau assured that the problems of access roads, hostel facilities and accommodation for staff would be looked into by the Federal Government.

    The Honorable Minister assured that the University would remain in Kashere contrary to rumours that it would be relocated.

    Welcoming the Honorable Minister, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Mohammed Kabiru Farouk commended the Federal Government, particularly TETFund which was responsible for most of the University’s infrastructural development, staff training and research and publication activities through normal and special interventions.

    He said the University had benefited tremendously from TETFund since 2011 to the tune of over 7 billion Naira, which was used for infrastructural development projects, library development, research, Journal publication, academic staff development and training, conference attendance and special intervention for specific areas in terms of furnishing, lab equipment and building infrastructure among others.

    During the visit, the Honorable Minister interacted with the staff and students, inspected on-going projects and commissioned staff Quarters built by the University.
