• The industrial action embarked upon by the Ogun State chapter of Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), which is in its second week, has been suspended.

The teachers took the decision to suspend the strike after a meeting between the leadership of the Union and the state government.

The NUT chairman, Dare Ilekoya, and his counterpart in ASUSS, Akeem Lasisi, jointly announced that the strike had been called off as the government had shown willingness to look into their demands.

He said the government also agreed to pay the October deductions with immediate effect, while outstanding would also be paid subsequently as state’s Internally Generated Revenue improves.

Lasisi appealed to members to comply with the union’s directive and return to work.
