• NASU Calls For Government Funding Of Polytechnic Education.

The Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions (NASU) has decried the low level of funding of polytechnic education in Nigeria.

Speaking during an interview on Tuesday, the Chairman/Deputy President of NASU, Polytechnics & Others Trade Group Council, Mr Simon Go’ar, said that over the years, the polytechnics had been neglected by the federal and state governments.

He said that there was no way the country could achieve technological breakthrough with the present low level of funding of polytechnic education.

Go’ar, therefore, urged government at both levels to systematically increase their annual budgets for the polytechnics sub-sector.

He said that despite the abundant natural resources Nigeria was endowed with, its citizens still wallow in abject poverty and squalor. (NAN)
